I just wanna holla atcha. I really love your song, I believe. It reminds me of my family's. We do homeschool, and live out in the country of Shelby County, Ky. I have watched from afar your journey, since my days at EKU, in the mid-90's. Phone 3, and all dem places. Even that little joint where all the bikers use ta drink. I loved those days. Freedom! Be well, and keep on singing and playing. Storytelling is such a lost art.

Gary Furlow - Tuesday, September 14th, 2010
Met Mitch at the Americana Music Camp and watched him perform 3 times at the Sister's Folk Festival. Terrific guy and wonderful performer. All the best, Mitch.

Dawn Kelly-Bryers - Tuesday, August 31st, 2010
As I was reading thru and listening to the music I thought of what a truly beautiful person you are and always were, inside and out.
Love and Peace Mitch.

I live in a beautiful spot in the world, that is, until my county decided we needed to straighten out the highway so we can "attract more business and industry". They are blasting through on Hwy 52 and have made a giant mess reminiscent of Avatar. I've taken a stand and contacted the EPA so now it's really stirred up. Thanks Mitch, for writing Drop in the Bucket. It's become my theme song as I fight for the former beauty of my now spoiled creek. Is this song on the Zoe Speaks release, or have you released it again recently? I saw your set at Floydfest and it was great. Thanks...Pam

amy mcfarland - Tuesday, August 10th, 2010
It was great to meet you, at Sully's in Somerset, this past weekend. My sister and I enjoyed your music and we were so happy to be placed in the right place at just the right time. Thank you also for taking the time to seek us out and say goodbye. It is the small things, just like that, that mean the most and resonate with people. Hope to see you again soon.

Briony - Sunday, July 25th, 2010
I heard you play at the Barea Craft Festival. It's been a couple of weeks since and I can't seem to get enough of the music on the CD that I bought " 'Heart and Soul'. I was visiting from Houston Texas. Is there any possibility of you touring these parts? Anything I could do to help you get gigs here? There are some good venues for folk musicians in Houston. So to sum it up, thank you for the making the music that makes me feel good! Does this make me a cosmic possum?

Cole Ripy - Saturday, June 12th, 2010
You, my friend, embody the true spirit of American folk music, and I feel that your music represents the ideal mindset of the enlightened naturalist and philanthropist. If i could pick any musician in the world to jam with, itd be you man.

Reggie Barrett - Tuesday, June 8th, 2010
Mitch, you're the best! You have inspired me to write more than before. Thanks for the strength in your songs! You got it, Man! People love you.

Are you traveling with Keith Greeninger? He is fabulous too! I met him at song school, Lyons one year. short and funny story that goes with it. Maybe tell you later.

I will send you a poem soon. Reg

Life is not a journey to the grave
with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up,
totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming- (in song of course-)
"Wow - What a ride"
Hope to see you soon.

Christina - Thursday, March 12th, 2009
Mitch, your music has been something that has strengthened the ties of my "odd" little family since the beginning. We attend the festival every year as a family...unfortunately we have hit some rough patches. However it'll all come out in the wash, it always does. The most important thing I wanted to say is thank you for some wonderful memories and some of the best lessons in life with your music as the soundtrack.

Ian Barrett - Sunday, February 15th, 2009
Hope you're doing well Mitch. I've been trying to do some research on my Barrett lineage and a lot of it runs through Madison and Clay county Kentucky. It works out pretty well that there's a Mitch Barrett who's an expert on Appalacian storytelling! How can I buy a copy of your storytelling CD? Have a great weekend!

Matthew McClintock - Saturday, December 27th, 2008

Hey Mitch, I wanted to say thanks for the CDs you gave Dad. We listened to them all the way home and they're amazing. I had a great time at Moose and Donna's on Thanksgiving. I tried to add you on myspace, but I don't know the stuff to get it to accept the request. Maybe you could go to Dad's page and add me? Thanks again. Peace. Mariah Jade

Hi. I met you at the Berea Craft Festival, I was there with Jack Smith. I really like your cd cover design so I thought I would check out your website, nice also.

aletha anderson - Saturday, July 5th, 2008
Hi Mitch,

Sorry to invade your site with a personal question. But did you grow up in the Berea area? Are you any relation to Flossie McHone who married a Barrett? My mother who would have been Flossie's neice lost her mother Viola Jane when she was four. She was taken away from her family so she was wondering if you might be a cousin? And if you could give her any news of the family?

Thank you,
When will you come to CA?

Dennis S. - Friday, June 20th, 2008

Got "Drop in the Bucket" this week and it is awesome. Looking forward to owning "Heart and Soul". Born to Waste is as good a song as I have heard in years.

Your friend...Dennis S.

Hey Mitch,

Thank you again for another great show. It's amazing the folks that come out to one of your shows, people that have never been to our venue before. Some kind of magic happens when they hear your music and they tell a friend and they tell a friend and so on.

Hey, my name is katie and I saw you here recently when you came to Glasgow High School. You were absolutely amazing and I was thrilled to see Glasgow get such a talented performer. You actually sang this song to us and I must say, its very entertaining and definitely a 'feel good' song.
